Jewellery is made to be worn.
But natural gemstones, pearls and precious metals all benefit from a little care. Small habits can help preserve their colour, finish and beauty for years to come.
Keep jewellery away from chemicals
Perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, cleaning products and chlorine can affect gemstones, pearls, metals and jewellery finishes.
As a general rule, jewellery should be one of the last things you put on when getting dressed.
Remove it before swimming or bathing
Although some gemstones tolerate water better than others, repeatedly exposing jewellery to water, chlorine, salt, soaps and shampoos can affect both the materials and the construction of a piece.
We recommend removing Solenne jewellery before swimming, showering or bathing.
Be particularly gentle with pearls
Pearls are softer and more delicate than many gemstones.
Avoid exposing them to perfume, cosmetics and harsh cleaning products. After wearing them, gently wiping the surface with a soft, clean cloth can help remove oils and residue.
Avoid abrasive cleaning
Gemstones have different physical properties, which means a cleaning method suitable for one stone may not be suitable for another.
For everyday care, begin gently. A soft, dry cloth is often all that is needed.
Avoid abrasive products and do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners unless you know that every material within the piece is suitable for that method.
Store pieces separately
When you’re not wearing your jewellery, keeping pieces separately helps prevent harder materials from scratching softer ones and stops bracelets and chains from becoming tangled.
Your Solenne pouch is designed to provide a soft place to keep your piece when it isn’t being worn.
Natural materials change subtly as they accompany us through life.
Caring for them isn’t about keeping jewellery untouched.
It is about allowing it to be worn, loved and lived in - beautifully.
