Why I Started Solenne

Why I Started Solenne

Solenne began with a desire to create something that felt entirely my own.

I have always been drawn to jewellery, but perhaps even more to the things that surround it - colour, texture, natural materials, the feeling of something beautiful against the skin. I love pieces that become part of the person wearing them; jewellery that is lived in rather than saved for an occasion.

Over time, that instinct became a desire to make.

I began working with gemstones and quickly became fascinated by their individuality. No two stones were quite the same. There were variations in colour, tiny inclusions, unexpected markings and subtle differences that made choosing them feel deeply personal.

I didn’t want to design something and simply hand the making of it to somebody else. The making itself mattered to me.

So every Solenne piece passes through my hands.

I choose the stones, consider their combinations, work with their natural differences and make each piece individually. There is something wonderfully intimate about knowing that a piece began as a collection of loose materials on my table and will eventually become part of somebody else’s life.

That human element sits at the heart of Solenne.

The brand is also inseparable from the landscapes I love. The sea, sun-warmed stone, faded summer colours, earthy autumn tones and the particular light of the Mediterranean continually find their way into the collections.

Larimar can remind me of shallow water. Tiger eye of late afternoon sun. Malachite of something wild and intensely alive. Pearls of the sea itself.

I never wanted Solenne to be about jewellery alone.

I wanted to create pieces that carry something with them - a material, a place, a feeling, a story.

Something chosen not simply because it is beautiful, but because somehow, it speaks to you.

That is where Solenne began.
